Will New Media determine this General Election? - BBC

  • 4

So, will this be the first internet general election? Probably not, according to two of the leading political bloggers in the UK.

Iain Dale of Iain Dale's Diary and Labourlist's Alex Smith were discussing the digital election as part of the Journalism Programme's election briefing series.

They spoke of the power of social media in organisational terms and how the political parties are using blogs, Facebook and email.

There's no doubt that digital media has become an increasingly powerful tool, but it's very unlikely that Twitter will decide the next Prime Minister.
