Hexham MP Welcomes Broadband Announcement

The future is looking bright with regard to high speed broadband connection for rural areas such as Tynedale.

Hexham MP Peter Atkinson has welcomed a groundbreaking announcement concerning the future development of broadband services. For many years those communities located in more remote parts of Northumberland have struggled to secure the same level of broadband coverage as their urban neighbours. All that will change if Shadow Secretary of State for Media and Culture gets his way. In an announcement last week Jeremy Hunt MP announced that a future Conservative Government would roll out superfast broadband across the country.

The plan would allow private sector operators to lay fibre in BT’s pipes and ducts, which would mean the end of BT’s monopoly and expand opportunity for swift and strategic development of the broadband network.
